Add and edit questions
The form builder is where you put your form together. You drag questions in from the list on the left, then click a question to change it.
Add a question
- Open the form in the builder (click its name on the dashboard).
- Find the question type in Form fields or Design elements on the left. See Question types you can use.
- Drag it onto the form, to the spot where you want it.
- Its settings window opens. Type the Question, change anything else, then click Save in the window.
- Click Save at the top right of the builder.
Change a question
Click a question to select it. Its buttons show above it: Edit, Move, Copy and Delete. Click Edit, or double-click the question, to open its settings.
The settings window shows the basics first:
- Question: the words applicants see.
- Mandatory: tick it if the form can't be sent until this is answered. Mandatory questions show a red star.
- Hint inside the box: grey example text inside the answer box.
- Help text (shown under the field).
- Width and Position: see Put questions side by side.
Click More options for extras such as Extra help (shown on a ? icon), Pre-filled answer, and Read only (people can't change it). Turn on Preview at the top of the window to see how people will see the question.
Move, copy or delete
- Move: drag the question by its Move button. A blue line shows where it will land.
- Copy: puts a copy just below it.
- Delete: removes it straight away. Click Undo at the bottom of the screen within a few seconds if you didn't mean it.
Keyboard shortcuts
With a question selected: Enter opens its settings, Delete removes it, Ctrl+D copies it, and Esc unselects it. Ctrl+S saves the form (Cmd on a Mac).
