Lists of options
When people should pick from a list, use a list question. You type the options one per line, and you can paste a whole list at once.
Which one to use
- Dropdown: people pick one option from a list that opens. Good for long lists.
- Choose one: all options show, and people pick one.
- Choose several: all options show, and people tick as many as they like.
- Yes / No: a ready-made Choose one with Yes and No.
- Country: a ready-made Dropdown of countries, with Australia first.
- Choice matrix: several questions that share the same answers, shown as a table.
Steps
- Drag Dropdown, Choose one or Choose several onto your form.
- In its settings, type the Question.
- In Options, type one option per line. To add many at once, paste a list, for example from Word or Excel. Bullet points at the start of lines are taken off.
- Click Save in the window, then Save at the top of the builder.
The box shows how many options you have as you type.
Choice matrix
Type the rows in Questions and the column headings in Answers (the columns), one per line. For example, questions "Friendliness" and "Speed", with answers "Poor", "Good" and "Excellent".
Good to know
- To show Choose one or Choose several options across the line instead of one under another, tick Show the options side by side under More options.
- Options whose wording you leave alone keep matching earlier responses. If you change an option's wording, even to fix a typo, it counts as a new option, so check any show-or-hide rule that uses it.
- To pre-select an option, use Pre-filled answer under More options.
- An answer can show or hide other questions, such as "If yes, give details". See Show or hide questions.
- A number in an option, such as "Adult ($25)", can be used in a total. See Calculations.
